A new CPA is not required to complete CPE in the calendar year in which they initially receive their certificate. Therefore, new CPAs are only required to complete eighty (80) hours for the first renewal cycle.
You must retain your documentation for the current and the preceding renewal period. In addition to the above requirements, the Board may also require a licensee, as part of an audit, compliance investigation, or otherwise, to submit to the Board an official accounting, in a format approved by the Board, of the licensee's completed CPE hours for the preceding three (3) year period. You will be responsible for submitting copies of your certificates of completion and/or verification of courses at the time of the audit.
