In December 2023, the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) released a new standard, GASB 102. It focuses on enhancing transparency around the financial risks state, local, and Tribal governments face, particularly those related to resource concentrations and external or internal constraints.
GASB Statement No. 102, titled “Certain Risk Disclosures,” requires entities to disclose critical information about their exposure to risks due to specific concentrations or limitations that could lead to financial distress or operational challenges. GASB 102's requirements are effective for fiscal years beginning after June 15, 2024, and all reporting periods thereafter. Earlier application is encouraged.

Dr. Minniti received his doctoral degree in business administration from Walden University, received his MBA degree and Graduate Certificate in Accounting from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management, and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Minniti taught graduate and undergraduate courses in forensic accounting at DeVry University, Grand Canyon University, Kaplan University, Northwestern University, and the University of Phoenix.
