Course Description

Ethical issues for tax practitioners typically arise from a conflict among the duties owed to the client, to the system, and to yourself. When conflicts arise, it is important to understand what standards will be used to judge your conduct. This program will review Circular 230, and selected tax penalties, and discuss specific situations, both in the context of tax planning and return preparation. Currently, the IRS only requires practitioners who represent taxpayers before the IRS to follow Circular 230 due to the Loving case. Even though tax representation creates a jurisdiction hook, tax representatives can still run afoul for tax preparation issues under Circular 230. The session covers the basics of IRS Office Professional Responsibility, how it functions, and interacts with tax practitioners. We will also cover, jurisdictional issues of who is subject to Circular 230 and the sanction power of OPR. We will also cover what to do in a situation where OPR reaches out to you as a practitioner for possible violations of Circular 230.

Ethical dilemmas are found at every turn in a tax practice. This webinar will dive into the rules and regulations surrounding tax practice, and how to deal with tricky ethical situations. We will discuss Circular 230 and other regulations relating to tax practice, and discuss the PTIN rules.

This Ethics webinar will help tax professionals understand the rules relating to tax practice and preparation. We will cover Circular 230, the rules relating to PTINs and who needs them, and discuss sticky ethical situations and how to handle them.

Excellent and thought provoking. Knowledgeable presenter and detailed slides provided as a resource to be able to refer back to after the presentation completed. One of the best ethics course that I have attended. Jason handled the webinar and queries beautifully. Loved the ideas of your presentation and viewer perspective passed down in the webinar.

DR

Camera video of instructor was not smooth and probably should just be omitted to reduce distraction. Overall Excellent class. "Instructors kept things moving and gave real time examples of things that you can apply to real life activities.

WW

Very well put together course. I can see a lot of effort was involved. Examples were excellent. Learned some new things to think about. Although ethics seminars can be quite dull, this was quite interesting and kept me engaged throughout. Thank You

DS

Great Webinar and also very interesting take on an idea I think many people have tried to address over the years but often I kind of tuned out because I’ve heard it before or some variation of it. Thank You myCPE
