Nicholas has worked with the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent and an Attorney with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility. Nicholas has authored publications for the AICPA’s Journal of Accountancy, AICPA’s Tax Advisor, NATP’s Tax Pro Journal, and CCH’s Journal of Tax Practice and Procedure. He also co-authored a textbook, Tax Preparer Penalties and Circular 230 Enforcement, published by Thomson Reuters. Nicholas has been recognized as the Top 5 Under 35 CPAs in Virginia, and is a member of the AICPA’s Tax Executive Committee. Nicholas is an adjunct professor at the University of Mary Washington. He is a graduate of Carthage College, University of Connecticut (M.S. in Accounting), Case Western Reserve University School of Law (J.D.), and Georgetown University (LLM in Taxation).

I felt that the key points were addressed. There was a few points that were glossed over, but it was understandable as they were rather straight forward. I do think there were a good amount of examples. The review, and final quiz were straight forward and didn't try and mislead me which I really like.

I have taken AFSP Ethics courses dealing with Circular 230 for the past several years. This is the best course on this subject I have taken. The instructor knew the material, gave excellent examples based on his experience, and made it relevant to small tax preparers such as myself! Excellent course!

This course was far more interesting than the typical ethics course re-hash of potential financial penalties per instance of impropriety. The instructor's examples from experience in the OPR added to my understanding of the topic.

Getting a refresher on past learned information does not hurt, it actually helps you remember everything that a tax preparer should now when preparing taxes for customers, and provides up to date information that might change.
