Tax and accounting professionals are at significant risk for cyberattacks because they have the data hackers want. Thieves can impersonate the victims and file fraudulent tax returns with information like names, social security numbers, financial data, and addresses. And with a cyberattack happening every 39 seconds, the chances of your practice getting attacked continue to grow, especially if you’re not prioritizing data security.

According to a report, just 20% of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and other cybersecurity leaders surveyed believe they are sufficiently protected against the negative impact of a data breach today. This is despite 97% of that population of security leaders asserting that their organizations were as prepared or more prepared for a cyberattack than they were one year ago.

Implementing cybersecurity measures is not just a matter of best practices. It’s the law. Paid accounting and tax practices are required by IRS and law to create and implement a Written Information Security Plan (WISP).

He loves people and providing solutions with integrity. A BYU graduate, Greg began his career in the era of 64k, 5.25” floppy drives and Mac 128k’s. As the industry evolved, Greg moved into the cyber arena providing cyber controls, compliance, data breach and response solutions.
In his experience as VP of Business Development with A-LIGN, Greg consulted, guided and educated dozens of clients in cyber compliance guidelines and certifications for standards such as:

- ISO 27001
- SOC 1 and SOC 2
- GDPR
- FISMA
- FedRAMP
- HIPAA
- NIST
Greg is adept at scoping and providing solutions for web application, infrastructure penetration testing (both internal and external) as well as managed detection and response, incident response and digital forensic investigations.
When Greg is not providing cyber solutions for his clients, he can be found playing with his grandchildren and rehearsing or performing with the world-renowned Tabernacle Choir on Temple Square.
