A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a designation given to those who have completed the CFA Program and completed acceptable work experience requirements. CFA Institute offers Professional Learning (PL) to its members to help them cultivate their curiosity and advance in their careers.

There are no minimum PL requirements in a particular subject area.

Following are the examples given for qualifying activities that CFA Institute accepts:-

  • Self-Study
  • Employer-based
  • Third-party Offerings
  • Live events (e.g., conferences, seminars, forums, lectures)
  • Readings (e.g., journal articles, textbooks)
  • Level I, II, or III of the CFA Program exams (40 PL credits, including 2 SER credits, for each exam level passed)
  • CIPM Level I or Level II exam (20 PL credits for each exam passed)
  • Internet-based courses, webinars, and podcasts

The license can be renewed by payment of a renewal fee of USD299 to the CFA Institute. Society dues vary by society. Annual dues will be pro-rated for those joining CFA Institute and a member society for the first time.

A Chartered Financial Analyst can complete 100% of the total required PL credit hours via self-study courses. i.e., CFAs can complete all 20 hours via self-study courses from myCPE.

CFAs can carry over up to 20 additional PL and 2 additional SER credits.

myCPE provides courses that are approved for continuing education credits by NASBA. Based on the guidelines issued by these boards regarding Continuing Education Requirements, we recommend the programs/ webinars to be suitable for NASBA specified in each webinar. However, it will be the responsibility of each attendee to ensure that they are eligible for the Continuing Education Credits based on their occupation/ job profile, knowledge requirements as well as guidelines laid down by their regulatory board before registering for the webinars.
