Course Description

In this practical webinar, you will learn with the expansion of the Internet, more and more companies are performing work out of their home state. It’s important to get a basic understanding of state and local tax issues in order to help guide clients in these other states as well as their home states.

How States are Moving to Tax Internet Sales in Wake of Supreme Court Decision. The U.S. Supreme Court recently decided the most significant state tax case in 25+ years when they ruled in South Dakota v. Wayfair that physical presence is not required for a state to impose a sales tax collection obligation on a remote seller. What does this ruling mean for your company or your clients? What do we know for sure, as opposed to just having to read between the lines? How should you react? This course will get you up to speed on where things stand five months after this monumental law change.

As an accounting professional, you likely have clients that sell online or through a marketplace and across state lines. Or maybe you are a controller or finance professional responsible for your company’s sales tax processes.   This decision grants the state authority to impose sales tax obligations on out-of-state transactions even if physical presence doesn’t exist in the state of delivery. So what happens now?
Recommended for Accountants, CPAs, Tax Professionals, Payroll Professionals, CFOs & Controllers.

Excellent presentation on a difficult area to control dealing with nexus regulations. Tracking sales tax from various states without proper tech programs is a very risky & difficult task.
