Artificial intelligence is now embedded in accounting platforms that handle journal entries, reconciliations, analytics, and even audit support. But as AI becomes smarter and more connected, it also becomes a bigger target. What happens when financial data is subtly manipulated, AI outputs are poisoned, or a trusted third-party model is compromised? For accounting professionals, these risks are no longer theoretical. They directly affect reporting accuracy, audit defensibility, regulatory compliance, and client confidence.

This CPE session breaks down the modern AI risk landscape in clear, practical terms. You will explore how threats such as adversarial data attacks, biased algorithms, weak model governance, and vendor vulnerabilities can quietly erode financial integrity. More importantly, the course moves beyond fear to solutions. Participants will examine defense-in-depth strategies designed specifically for AI-enabled accounting systems, along with continuous validation techniques that help detect errors before they escalate into material issues or compliance failures.

Major Topics:

  • AI threat risk landscape
  • Securing intelligent workflows
  • Model output validation controls
  • Third party AI risks
  • Regulatory alignment strategies

The CPE session also connects cybersecurity maturity to real business outcomes. You will see how strong AI governance supports SOC 2 readiness, GDPR expectations, and emerging AI oversight, while also strengthening client trust and professional credibility. If your firm relies on AI today or plans to soon, this course provides the clarity, structure, and safeguards needed to move forward with confidence and control.

AI is no longer a buzzword for accountants; it is becoming a day-to-day reality inside firms of every size. From research workflows to client deliverables, AI tools are reshaping how work gets done. But with opportunity comes pressure. How do firms move beyond theory and apply AI in a way that is practical, secure, and ethical? And how can accountants stay competitive without exposing their organizations to new risks?

This CPE session draws on case studies, internal research models, and front-line experience to help accountants bridge the gap between AI concepts and daily practice. You will explore how firms are developing in-house AI research capabilities, establishing internal benchmarks, and responsibly experimenting with new tools. The session also addresses the reality of exponential technological change, showing how firms can adapt quickly while maintaining strong governance, cybersecurity, and ethical standards. Practical strategies are emphasised throughout, focusing on sustainable adoption rather than one-off experimentation.

Major Topics:

  • Internal AI research value
  • Theory to practice adoption
  • Managing exponential digital change
  • In house benchmarks innovation
  • Innovation governance and ethics
  • Custom internal AI tools
  • AI misuse and cyber risk

By the end of this CPE session, you will have a clearer roadmap for adopting AI safely, ethically, and effectively, making this a must-attend session for accountants ready to turn AI into a real competitive advantage.

I thought the first presenter Fouda Mulla was horrible. He was very difficult to understand with a heavy accent. He also did not seem to be aware of his timetable for his one hour presentation because he went over his time limit and and to be corrected by the narrator. He seemed lost at times. The 2nd presenter was much, much better - easy to understand, made the material easier to understand, and overall had good presentation skills.

The second presenter made the content a little more relatable with examples, however, his was all based on Firms usage of AI - I am a CPA, but practice in industry - I had thought this would be more about that, than how auditors use AI.
