Conference Overview

The accounting profession has experienced significant change over the past decade, from cloud technology and automation to remote work and evolving client expectations. Today, artificial intelligence is adding another layer of transformation, prompting firm leaders to reconsider how work gets done, how teams are structured, and what skills professionals need to succeed.

While much of the conversation focuses on technology, the bigger challenge is often people. Which responsibilities are changing? Which skills remain essential? What should firms do with employees whose day-to-day work is increasingly automated? And how can organizations prepare their workforce for the next phase of the profession without disrupting client service or employee engagement?

This session explores how accounting roles are evolving in both public accounting firms and corporate finance teams. Participants will examine the differences between the pre-AI and post-AI workplace, identify tasks that are being automated versus those that continue to require human judgment, and discuss practical approaches to workforce development.

The program will also address one of the most pressing leadership questions facing firms today: Is it better to hire new talent, reduce staffing, or invest in developing existing employees? Through practical examples and workforce planning frameworks, attendees will learn how leading firms are approaching upskilling, professional development, and competency tracking to ensure their teams remain relevant and valuable.

Rather than focusing solely on technology, this session emphasizes the human side of transformation, helping firms build adaptable teams, strengthen client relationships, and prepare professionals for long-term success in an evolving profession.
