We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate – Canada Audit & Assurance to join our growing Canadian Assurance practice. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Canadian audit engagements, financial statement reviews, and compilation engagements. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and engagement teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and support Canadian Audit & Assurance engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Perform Financial Statement Audits and Review Engagements in accordance with Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS).
  • Lead and contribute to audits of Not-for-Profit Organizations (NPOs), Charities, and NGOs.
  • Prepare and review Compilation Engagements (NTR).
  • Conduct risk assessments, substantive testing, analytical procedures, and audit documentation.
  • Prepare working papers, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE, ASNPO, IFRS where applicable).
  • Coordinate with clients to obtain audit evidence and resolve audit queries.
  • Assist in planning engagements, managing timelines, and meeting deliverable deadlines.
  • Mentor and support junior team members while ensuring quality and efficiency in engagement execution.
  • Collaborate with managers and partners on engagement progress, findings, and reporting.

 

Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

     

    Experience

    • 3–6 years of experience in Audit & Assurance, preferably with exposure to Canadian accounting and auditing engagements.
    • Experience working with CPA firms or public accounting firms will be an added advantage.

     

    Technical Skills

    • Strong understanding of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS).
    • Knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, and IFRS.
    • Experience with audit software and accounting platforms.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
