CPE Requirements

PLP holders must attain and declare 21 CPE hours each calendar year.

License Renewal Period

Maintenance is ongoing on an annual basis through membership, conduct, and CPE compliance.

Calendar year, January 1 to December 31, with the annual CPE Declaration due by December 31.

Ethics Requirement

No minimum ethics requirement.

Carry Over Credits

Initial CPE Hours

Newly certified members may receive an extended initial cycle. If your CPE cycle begins in another calendar year, no declaration is due for the current year.

Eligible Learning Activities

Recognized activities include seminars and webinars, mentoring, teaching, course development, article writing, trade-publication reading, internal training, conferences, government seminars, post-secondary study, organizational change work, and related podcasts. Published caps include mentoring 6 hours, article writing (5), reading (2), leadership development (5), guest speaking (5), influencer-community conferences (5), Network & Share sessions (3), government seminars (5), and podcasts (5) per year. CPE Deadline

Complete your annual CPE and submit the CPE Declaration by December 31.

Reporting Period

The reporting period runs from January 1 through December 31 each year.

License Renewal

To maintain the designation, keep your membership active, follow the Code, and meet the CPE requirement. If the designation is withdrawn, you may apply for reinstatement within three years of the withdrawal date.

Record Retention

Keep records of CPE activities and proof of completion for at least six plus one years.

Do MYCPE ONE Courses Qualify for Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP)? Yes

The National Payroll Institute's official PLP maintenance sources describe an activity-based CPE framework centered on competency alignment, accepted activity types, and annual declaration requirements. They do not identify a public provider pre-approval registry for PLP CPE.
