Any courses with a minimum of 30 credit hours in payroll career-related topics like accounting, human resources, interpersonal skills, or business communication completed through an accredited public college or university. For example, PCP certification holders who complete either the Introduction to Payroll Management or Applied Payroll Management courses in the Payroll Leadership Professionals (PLP) certification program satisfy both the current and following year's annual CPE requirements. This also includes the PLP transfer credit courses in Organizational Behaviour, Managerial Accounting, and Compensation and Benefits.
PLPs are required to report their CPE hours through a Declaration in an online form that requires certified members to declare annually before December 31st that they have fulfilled the required CPE hours to maintain certification.
Certified members who are unable to fulfill their required CPE hours can request an extension by submitting the CPE Leave Request Form. Leaves can be granted to certified members under different categories:
Certified members who are on Maternity/Parental leave should still submit their CPE Declaration to apply for an exemption. In case they are selected for an audit, they must provide us with the supporting documentation. Examples of supporting documentation for a Maternity/Parental leave are a copy of an ROE form or a birth certificate.
National Payroll Institute (NPI) does not pre-determine how much CPE is gained at an activity, it only pre-determines what qualifies as CPE for each PLP. For further guidance, we have provided details for “QUALIFIES FOR” on each page of the courses about Approval/Qualifications of CPE Credits for your reference. However, it will be the responsibility of each attendee to ensure that they are eligible for the Continuing Education Credits based on their occupation/ job profile, knowledge requirements as well as guidelines laid down by their regulatory board before registering for the webinars.
