Simplifying Regulations for 2026

CPE Requirement

40 CPE credits must be completed each biennial period, beginning the year after the credential is awarded.

Ethics Requirement

No minimum ethics-hour requirement, but members must remain in compliance with The IIC Code of Ethics and Code of Professional Standards.

Initial CPE Hours

The biennial CPE cycle starts in the year after the award. Example: if awarded in 2026, the first CPE cycle begins in 2027.

Subject Areas

Learning Modes

All CPE can be completed through self-study programs.

Eligible Learning Activities

The IIC says it accepts credit from formal classes, postgraduate college courses not applied to an undergraduate degree, correspondence and self-study courses, authoring an article, instructing a class, and attending local chapter meetings.

CPE Deadline

Satisfy the 40-hour requirement by the end of the applicable biennial period.

Reporting Period

The CPE measurement period is biennial, but members attest to compliance when they renew annually.

License Renewal

Renew annually in the month of your certification anniversary. Non-renewal terminates membership on expiration, suspends certification after six months, and permanently revokes certification after three years unless properly reinstated.

Carry Over Credits

Do MYCPE ONE Courses Qualify for CPE Credits for the Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA)? Yes
