California Registered Tax Preparers (CRTP) have the following CE requirements:

  • 20 hours of CE annually.
  • 2 hours of ethics.
  • 100% of CE can be completed through self-study courses.
  • Reporting Cycle – Ends by October 31 each year.
  • Courses must be from CTEC-approved providers.

Subject area restrictions:

  • 10 hours of federal tax law,
  • 3 hours federal tax update,
  • 2 hours of ethics and
  • 5 hours of California Tax Law
