Russell spent the initial years of his career learning business processes by exploring not just the large international organizations but also the startups. He is now excited to share those years of discovery and education with the world.


Russell graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with double majors in Business Economics and Philosophy. He began his career at the London-based GT Capital Management as a Pension and Mutual fund Accountant with an emphasis on Emerging Markets. He then took a year off to travel around the world exploring different countries firsthand after that came a stint at  Mitsubishi Global Custody and later Goldman, Sachs & Co in New York working the International Sales desk for equities. 


He caught the entrepreneurial bug and left with his boss at Goldman to co-found Kontiki Capital in New Zealand. They later moved HQ to Suva Fiji where most of their investments were located. Moving back to the States he began working for Intuit where he was a member of the first outside sales team to visit CPA offices talking payroll, QuickBooks, and Lacerte. 


While at Xero he introduced hundreds of accountants to cloud accounting and was able to show them how to quickly expand their practice unencumbered by legacy desktop accounting platforms.  


Now he is at Spotlight Reporting where he can share this varied knowledge and experience with  accountants.
