Course Overview

International tax compliance is a critical piece in managing global business and should not be overlooked. A key form for foreign-owned U.S. corporations is Form 5472.

Form 5472, Information Return of a 25% Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporation or a Foreign Corporation Engaged in a U.S. Trade or Business, is one of the most complicated forms of all U.S. filing requirements concerning foreign persons. Initially, the reporting obligations applied to corporations only; now the requirements extend to DREs active in the U.S. and owned by non-U.S. individuals and corporations.

The IRS requires the use of form 5472 to provide the information required under sections 6038A and 6038C when reportable transactions occur between a reporting corporation and a foreign or domestic related party.

This CE/CPE course will provide an overview of 5472 and practical steps for completing the form. We will cover the objective of form 5472, who is required to file it, important deadlines, and potential consequences of not filing this form or filing it incorrectly.

This CE Tax webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Overview and purpose of Form 5472
  • What is a reporting corporation?
  • Definition of a foreign person
  • What are reportable transactions?
  • Important deadlines related to form 5472
