Course Overview

Data Analysis is the process of turning data into information which can then be used to inform decisions. Data analysis is not just about crunching numbers, it also involves setting a clear definition of the purpose of the work required and collecting and cleansing relevant datasets before the analysis work commences. Equally important is the interpretation and presentation of the results of the analysis to support effective decision-making.

This course covers this five-stage process of data analysis. It also covers the four key tools which should be the foundation for good data analysis, and the core principles of effective data visualization.

Key topics covered in this webinar:

  • What is Data Analysis?
  • Bad Data: How not to do Data Analysis
  • A Structure for Data Analysis
  • Key Tools for Data Analysis: Parts 1 and 2
  • Data Analysis Example
  • Data Visualisation

Join this CPE Information Technology webinar to gain a strong understanding of the analysis process, and enhance your decision-making capabilities.

Note: This is an entry-level course aimed at those relatively new to analysis. The aim is to give a grounding in the core principles and basic techniques.

UO

Uchechi Oruwari, CIA

This webinar on data analysis was well-paced, easy to understand, and provided review checks intermittently. The presenter did a great job of explaining complex concepts comprehensibly, regardless of my prior experience with data analysis. One of the things I liked most about this webinar was the use of review checks. At regular intervals throughout the webinar, I was asked a review question, and this helped to ensure that I was understanding the material and able to apply what I was learning.
