In the race against climate change, more and more companies are committing themselves to adhere to the measures necessary to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 – but what does that mean exactly?
“A net-zero strategy is the process of creating a plan, often most effective if it is a personalized approach –to cut emissions to as close to zero as possible in attempts to adhere to the ideals of the goals delineated in most “net-zero” policies.”
This CPD webinar will review ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions after measuring a baseline year. It will provide a brief explanation of what is meant by scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and how to identify the highest emitting business activities. Case studies are used (from different industry sectors) with varying percentages of scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
You will be asked to create a plan for each before revealing the actual net zero strategies of each of these businesses. We will cover ways to keep stakeholders (employees, suppliers, customers, investors, community) engaged with your net zero action plan using a combination of education, communication, and consultation. This webinar will look at the arguments for and against applying for net zero or sustainable business accreditations. We will debate the pros and cons of offsetting historical greenhouse gas emissions and which offsetting schemes can be trusted if any. Finally, we will discuss the importance of climate advocacy, including how to write a successful net zero policy, plan, or narrative.
