Course Overview

Projects tend to take longer and cost more than expected. How is it possible to balance the many demands on a project manager to improve a project's outcome?

Project Management shows how to be a successful project manager by exploring how projects are initiated, evaluated, and selected. It also addresses all phases of project planning, the use of CPM and PERT to schedule tasks, and how to make trade-offs between the various project constraints.

The importance of project management cannot be truly emphasized.

If one has the best team, adequate resources as well as appropriate time and money on hand, but fails to utilize them in the best possible manner, then all the investments are as good as gone down the drain. Put the business angle into it and this failure would translate into losses—both in terms of money and credibility in the market.  Therefore, it is important to follow a method to achieve success.

The responsibility of managing a project can be demanding, and following a tried and tested project management methodology can often take some weight off the shoulders of a project manager. While there are many systems or methods you can follow to bring a project to successful completion, there are three predominant methods that have evolved over the years for project management: traditional (waterfall), phase gate, and Agile Scrum.

In this CPE Business Management webinar, will discuss:

  • The strengths and weaknesses of each project management methodology
  • Identify when each method should be used and when they should not be used.

The speaker Raymond Sheen will enrich the course with examples of each project management methodology presented. This will not only provide the understanding of the course, but also the practical aspects as well.
