Course Description

Are you working on Excel? Or is it working for you? In this online CPE webinar Excel expert David H. Ringstrom, CPA shares nearly three dozen different shortcuts for reclaiming your day in Excel. David will cover keyboard shortcuts, mouse techniques, and will show you how to unearth hidden features within Microsoft Excel. He also offers an open forum for questions, so feel free to share what’s slowing you down in Excel.

David demonstrates every technique at least twice in this continuing education course: first, on a PowerPoint slide with numbered steps, and second, in the Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) version of Excel. David draws your attention to any differences in the older versions of Excel (2019, 2016, 2013, and earlier) during the online webinar as well as in his detailed handouts. David also provides an Excel workbook that includes most of the examples he uses during the online continuing education course.

Microsoft 365 is a subscription-based product that provides new feature updates as often as monthly. Conversely, the perpetual licensed versions of Excel have feature sets that don’t change. Perpetual licensed versions have year numbers, such as Excel 2019, Excel 2016, and so on.

Highlights of the online CPE webinar :
  • Applying formatting to multiple locations within a worksheet by way of the Format Painter feature.
  • Avoiding frustration by understanding the nuances between Enter and Edit modes.
  • Capitalizing on keyboard shortcuts to make navigating within a table easier.
  • Creating a shortcut to allow you to clear the decks in Excel by closing all open documents at once.
  • Enabling a hidden keyboard shortcut for toggling the Freeze Panes feature on or off.
  • Leveraging Excel’s Quick Access Toolbar to create a shortcut that enables you to filter lists with a keystroke instead of multiple mouse actions.
  • Restoring “classic” Print Preview functionality in Excel 2010 and later.
  • Simplifying repetitive tasks by creating your own keyboard shortcuts.
  • Streamlining redundant data entry with a handy keyboard shortcut.
  • Streamlining repetitive tasks by way of Excel’s Quick Access Toolbar.
  • Streamlining the process of printing spreadsheets to .PDF format.
  • Striking through list items with a custom shortcut.
  • Toggling the locked status of a worksheet cell on or off by way of a custom shortcut.
  • Using keyboard shortcuts to enter the current date or time.

RE

I'm sorry again this was not what I was expecting when I signed up for the class. Overall though the material was great and presented very well, it just isn't what I was actually needing for what I do at the present time.

JA

David does a great job of making not so east topics and skills easy to understand in bite size steps.

LL

instructor is interesting and not boring

EA

As always, David is a rock star.

LW

Everything was very engaging!

DR

I would consider myself advanced at Excel, but this webinar showed me some really insightful Excel shortcuts that I used the very next day! Also, the instructor is really good about answering questions during the webinar.
