Course Description

Non-profit organizations have fewer anti-fraud controls in place, leaving them more vulnerable to fraud.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners estimates that organizations lose 5% of revenue to fraud each year.  In 2020 the Report to the Nations by the ACFE a spotlight was presented on Fraud in Non-profits. This provides valuable insight for NFP organization to know what is going on in their organizations and begin to develop practical approaches to be able to implement appropriate internal controls to help deter and potentially detect fraud.

Where should you start?

The top priority for any non-profit is to put in place sound internal controls because they play an important role in the integrity and accuracy of financial reports. Strict controls also help non-profits reach an acceptable ratio between expenditures for program activities and allocations for program support.
