myCPE meets all the RCH requirements of CPPs as per APA.

No, there are no minimum RCH requirements in a particular subject area.

RCHs can be earned by participating as an attendee or facilitator in most of the seminars or programs designed and administered by the APA. A CPP may attend pre-approved third-party educational activities offered by Approved Providers, APA Local Chapters, and accredited colleges and universities.

All programs presented by organizations other than APA should be pre-approved by APA before submission toward recertification.

For a program to qualify for recertification, you must be able to answer YES to ALL of the following questions:

  • Is the educational activity offered by the APA, Approved Provider program, Local Chapter RCH program, or an accredited college/university course?
  • Does the content of the program fall within the CPP Content Outline and KSAs or the CPP Content Outline and KSAs?
  • Does the content of the program fall within the definition of the payroll industry? The payroll industry is defined as the production, reporting, accounting, systems, taxation, administration, and/or education/consulting.
  • Was the program completed during the applicable recertification period?

It is not necessary to submit all documentation for proof of completion when recertifying. However, the certificate is fully responsible for retaining all documentation (certificates, letters of completion, official transcripts, etc.) and submitting to APA's Certification Department if they are randomly selected for a mandatory audit.

The CPP is responsible for maintaining an accurate record of each program attended along with the required documentation as outlined above that qualifies for CPP recertification.

The license renewal fee is $150.

A CPP can complete 100% of the total required RCH credits hours via self-study courses. i.e., a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) can complete all 120 RCHs via self-study courses from APA-approved RCH sponsors as myCPE is approved by APA (Approval number 372961).

No, the Short video (Nano learning) method is not approved for the RCH requirements of Certified Payroll Professional.

No, a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) cannot carry over excess credit earned in a particular renewal cycle.

If the individual did not complete the 120 hours of RCH requirements by December 31st, he/she will not qualify for recertification through continuing education. In such a case, the CPP designation will be removed from APA's records. To become certified again, the individual must retake and pass the appropriate exam.
