In this myCPE Short, Jason Dinesen provides crucial insights into the recently announced IRS Voluntary Disclosure Program for the Employee Retention Credit (ERC). It allows businesses that have received the ERC and are having second thoughts to repay a portion of the credit, leading the IRS to cease further actions. The deadline for businesses to participate in this program is March 22nd. Jason explains the eligibility criteria, emphasizing that it is not for businesses under criminal investigation, audit, or those contacted by the IRS regarding ERC repayment.
The terms of the program require businesses to repay 80% of the ERC without penalties or interest. Jason walks through Form 15434, a new form designed for businesses to calculate the amount they need to repay. He highlights the significance of this program as an amnesty initiative for businesses that may have been misled by credit mills. Additionally, he touches upon other updates related to the ERC, such as the moratorium on processing new claims and recent legal challenges.

The quiz did not pop-up at the end of the webinar and I had to contact customer support to get my certificate.
