Conference Overview

Financial distress is a scary thought for investors and business owners, yet it typically is part of a firm's natural life cycle.

Businesses need efficient and speedy procedures for the exit as much as for start-ups. World over, insolvency procedures help entrepreneurs close down unviable businesses and start up new ones. This ensures that the human and economic resources of a country are continuously de-channelized to efficient use thereby increasing the overall productivity of the economy.

This Virtual Event will discuss assisting clients with filing financial reports for the bankruptcy trustee and court.

There are different types of business bankruptcies. Some only apply to certain types of businesses and have limits on the debt that is allowed. Filing a business bankruptcy is a serious decision. How do you know which to choose?

This CPE Conference will look at different types of bankruptcy cases and the roles of accountants in the bankruptcy process. We can say that accountants have a very important role in the matters of bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings and a much more responsible role to solve problems.

Bankruptcy is a legal process designed to relieve honest but unfortunate debtors of their debts. At the end of the process, the bankrupt is released from the obligation to repay the debts they had when the bankruptcy was filed (with some exceptions).

If you’re struggling with large amounts of business debts, it might be time to consider your small business bankruptcy options. Bankruptcy is overwhelming enough without the confusion that comes with understanding legal lingo. It has the potential to wipe out all the debts you list when filing. But, not all debts are eligible to be forgiven through bankruptcy. Debts you may still owe after successfully filing for bankruptcy include tax claims.

It is often necessary for accountants to assist their employer or client with bankruptcy issues. This CPE session is designed for accountants who are working with or assisting clients going through bankruptcy.

With the global pandemic and economic shutdown, many accountants could find themselves in this position. This CPE session will not provide legal advice that is for the attorneys. It will discuss assisting clients with filing financial reports for the bankruptcy trustee and court.

In this CPE session, speaker Robert Minniti will also discuss the different types of bankruptcy cases, the roles of accountants in the bankruptcy process, and some of the options for small businesses in bankruptcy to negotiate debts through reorganization.
