FAQs

As a practicing CIA professional, you must complete 40 hours of CPE annually, Including 2 hours of ethics. For a non-practicing CIA professional, the CPE requirement is reduced to 20 hours per renewal cycle (January 1st to December 31st), Including 2 hours of ethics.

Regardless of being a practitioner or a non-practitioner, to maintain an active license, you need to complete a minimum of two hours of ethics courses.

Professionals are allowed to carry forward a maximum of 20 hours of their excessive/surplus learning during their recertification cycle.

Credits or CPE courses for major qualifications like CCSA, CGAP, CFSA, CRMA, and QIAL may be applied toward the required CPE requirements for CIA. Therefore, if you hold two or more qualifications, the same course will be eligible for all of their credits.
