Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP): This program is designed to fulfill the mandatory CE requirement of AFSP Participants exempt from the 6 CE hours of the AFTR course. Enrolled Agents (EA): Meets the 1-year minimum CE requirement for EA out of the mandatory 72-hour requirement over 3 years, including CE Ethics.
Maryland Tax Preparers (MRTP): Satisfies 14 hours of the biennial CE requirement for MRTP out of 16 hours, with an additional 2 hours of credit for Maryland Tax Subject required separately.
Oregon Tax Preparers (ORTP): Provides 16 CE hours of credit for ORTP out of the mandatory 30 Hours required annually.
California Tax Professionals (CRTP): Fulfills 15 Hours of the mandatory 20 Hours of CE requirement for CRTP annually, with an additional 5 hours of credit for California Tax Law required separately. CTRP can access and purchase the 5 hours California Tax Law course by CLICKING HERE.

Details

REPORTING PERIOD :

AFSP: 1st January- 31st December each year.
EA: November 1st through January 31st triennially (based on the last digit of SSN).
MRTP: The reporting period is from January 1st to December 31st each year.
ORTP: CE is acceptable from September 1 of the previous year to September 30 of the current renewal year i.e. 13 months.
CRTP: CRTPs must complete their 20 hours of CE requirement by October 31 of each year.

ETHICS REQUIREMENT :

2 Hours of Federal Ethics for AFSP, EA, MRTP, ORTP, and CRTP

SUBJECT AREA REQUIREMENT :

AFSP: 3 hours of Federal Tax Updates and 10 hours of Federal Tax Law.
EA: None
MRTP: A minimum of 4 hours of continuing education for each 2-year registration term shall be in Maryland tax-related subjects.
ORTP: None
CRTP: 10 hours of federal tax law, 3 hours of federal tax update, and 5 hours for State tax of continuing tax education each year.
