RCH Requirements

HRCI professionals must complete: 

  • 45 General Recertification Credits for aPHR & aPHRi 
  • 60 General Recertification Credits for PHR & PHRi 
  • 45 General Recertification Credits & 15 California Credits for PHRca 
  • 45 General Recertification Credits & 15 Business Credits for SPHR & SPHRi 
  • 45 General Recertification Credits & 15 Global Credits for GPHR
License Renewal Period
The last day of your birth month, following the end of each three-year recertification cycle.
RCH Reporting Cycle
The last day of your birth month, following the end of each three-year recertification cycle.
Ethics Requirement
One (1) hour of ethics in a three-year recertification cycle.
Carry Over Credits
Max. 15 RCH credits can be carried forward to the next reporting cycle as General HR Credit.

Reporting

License Renewal
Renew your license by the last day of your birth month, following the end of each three-year recertification cycle. Failure to renew by this date will result in your credential(s) being placed in Suspended status for up to 12 months, during which a $100 USD Suspended Fee will be automatically added to the fees owed upon submitting your application for review. Carry Forward
Max. 15 RCH credits can be carried forward to the next reporting cycle as General HR Credit, provided these surplus activities are earned in the last 12 months of the certificant’s active three-year recertification cycle.
Record Retention
Maintain records of at least 60 hours of the submitted activities up to the time of renewal if they are selected for HRCI audit. View more

Additional HRCI certification
If you earn an additional certification, its end date will match your first certification's end date based on your birth month, and you’ll have prorated credit hour requirements for recertification.
