I'm Miranda Marquit, Financial Wellness Expert with an MBA. Since earning my M.A. in Journalism in 2005, I have worked from home as a freelance writer. I began writing about finances in 2006 after being offered a corporate blogging gig. Soon, instead of writing primarily about science and technology, money became my focus. Most of what I knew about money came from the mistakes I made in the past. (I still make mistakes, even today!) I began researching — and trying — smarter ways to manage my resources. The more I learned, the more I became interested in the idea of managing my time more efficiently as well. Now, outsourcing is a big part of my money management strategy.
Earning my MBA also helped me take my money management and my life to the next level. I learned valuable business concepts and skills and saw first-hand what it takes to “make it” in today's corporatized world. While the lessons helped me, I also realized I definitely wanted to stick with freelancing. It offers so many other avenues for growth, income, and flexibility. My flexible lifestyle — one that includes travel, time with family and friends, volunteer work, and interesting side projects — wouldn't be possible if I used my MBA as intended in the corporate world.
Today I love educating people through the articles and blog posts I write for a variety of websites, the podcasts I co-host and appear on, the videos I make, and the seminars and workshops I teach. I also enjoy writing books and just generally being all over the place.
Over the years, I've my media appearances have included NPR's Morning Edition, Marketplace, CNBC, USA Today, The Huffington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, Consumerist, The Atlantic Wire, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and many others.
