Sending and receiving sensitive data via email is a fact of life for small firms. Even firms that employ client portals find themselves having to email data to recipients outside of their eco-system. This makes them susceptible to this data falling in the wrong hands. Small firms are especially vulnerable due to weak cybersecurity practices, and the cost of a data breach can be very crippling for them. This course introduces CPAs and tax preparers to the problem of email security, the laws and regulations that apply, the costs of a breach, and simple steps that a small firm can take to reduce the chance of falling victim to an email data breach. Attendees will also receive free email encryption software to help manage the risk of an email security breach.

Imtiaz Munshi is a Certified Public Accountant with over 33 years of experience working with small- and medium-sized businesses and accounting firms. Munshi founded Azstec and his CPA firm was instrumental in designing and testing of Azstec’s docNCRYPT encryption and also providing IT Security advisory to many small and mid -size accounting Firms. Munshi is highly experienced in M&A, sales and acquisitions of businesses, strategic planning and transaction structuring. He has acted as CFO for client companies as well as managing companies he created. Munshi has a BA in Finance and Accounting from University of East London.
