Course Description

The greatest asset of an accounting firm is its people. Unfortunately, this also means that people can be one of its greatest legal risks. While compliance with employment laws can be daunting, even small efforts can mitigate risk. Any accountant with responsibility for managing people must understand and be aware of the legal responsibilities they have on behalf of their company. A good grounding in employment law provides both the knowledge and the confidence to handle situations with your staff where following a legal procedure is a requirement.

This webinar would cover:

  • Review of wage and hour laws
  • Discrimination issues
  • American’s with Disabilities Act Issues (Including access to websites)
  • Family Medical Leave Act Issues
  • Privacy issues
  • Social media issues
  • Bring your own device issues
  • Hiring issues
  • Background check issues, and other legal issues accountants should be aware of.

This course is designed for individuals who would like to review business law issues that are important for accountants. This course would be appropriate for CPAs, CMAs, CFFs, CIAs, CGMAs, MAFFs, CFEs, CFOs, CEOs, business owners, business managers, internal auditors, external auditors, corporate accountants, government accountants, operations personnel and risk management personnel.
