Any Excel® user who needs quick methods to show numerical information in a visual way needs to know the basics of chart creation, how (and why) to use different chart types, and how to alter the look of a chart with layout, color, and content changes. Depicting data in a chart may reveal a trend that was not so obvious in the numerical data, which often can be dry and boring. That elusive meaning, buried in the obscurity of a sea of numbers suddenly springs to life in a chart - you get the big picture at a glance and Excel gives you a ton of formatting tools to add flair and pizzazz that enliven presentations and reports. A quick alternative to standard charts is to display data via Sparklines – in-cell line, column, or win-loss formats that quickly provide a visual image to accompany data.

 

This online Excel CPE webinar will show you quick ways to create charts, explore which chart types work best for different data and give you tips on when and how to add gridlines, change background colors, adjust scaling, insert titles, re-configure 3-D charts, and add trendlines. You can add both functionality and eye-appeal to your charts with simple formatting techniques.


You will learn the best and fastest ways to prepare data for charts, and create and modify them with a minimum of effort. You will also learn about the various chart types and which ones are most effective for the type of data being depicted. You will learn the best ways to adjust colors, gridlines, legend placement, and scaling, and how to quickly change the overall appearance of a chart and add numerous eye-appealing features.
