According to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), 66 percent of multinationals, not to mention almost half of all organizations, use virtual teams, which can boost productivity and employee flexibility while reducing the time and cost of travel.
How do I create effective virtual teams?
That is a question more, and more leaders are asking. Although technological advances have opened many opportunities and possibilities, particularly expanding the world’s talent pool beyond one’s backyard. Distance is no longer a barrier for an organization to employ from diverse backgrounds.
However, it has created other challenges, especially for virtual teams. The same principles that are applied to face-to-face teams must be recontextualized to address other challenges, such as poor team communication, slow response time, and lack of focus.
