Course Overview

Foreign investors are prevalent in the United States in almost every form of investment; buying companies in the United States, trading and selling goods in the United States and Operating Subsidiary Businesses. The foreign investors’ tax in the United States is generally similar to the taxation of the American taxpayer, with several unique exceptions that become traps for the unwary foreign investors. This free CPE webinar will consider many of the traps and techniques for success when foreigners invest in the United States.

This course examines the world of international taxation and looks at how foreign investors are taxed on U.S. real estate during ownership. It also examines the details of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRTA) which addresses the tax consequences to foreign investors disposing of their U.S. realty interests. Finally, the course examines some options to minimize the FIRPTA tax. Other available international tax courses address both the U.S. tax consequences of U.S. taxpayers with foreign operations and the U.S. tax consequences of foreign taxpayers with U.S. operations. NOTE: This course has been updated for the relevant 2018 provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and Bipartisan Budget Act, when and if applicable.

To be most effective to both participants and instructor, the handout should be assessed by the participants so that they can study and comments more details effectively.. As far as I am concerned I registered the course and tried to know how to apply in my profession more effectively, not just to get the handout.
