About the Symposium

Virtual Fraud Symposium: 2024

Join us for the 2024 Virtual Fraud Symposium, a cutting-edge online event designed to address the most pressing issues in fraud prevention, detection, and investigation.

The Keynote speaker is the FBI’s leading expert on Cryptocurrencies. He will detail the impact it is having on law enforcement and how the private sector can use similar tools to address the issues being faced. This presentation will dovetail into another topic about asset tracing by forensic accountants.

Experts from The Behavioral Forensic Group will forecast how anti-fraud professionals can leverage AI for enhanced detection and prevention. In addition to AI's role, the symposium will delve into the latest developments in public corruption cases and how the law is making these cases more difficult.

We have a fascinating presentation on the implosion of FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried, as well as practical lessons learned. Turning to white-collar defense, we have a dynamic duo of a former prosecutor and former IRS Agent who now work to defend those accused of fraud and corruption.

A leader in the Office of Inspector General Community will provide key insights into the challenges being faced. We will conclude with a national expert on whistleblower laws and legal representation and learn about the success of the National Whistleblower Center.

Don't miss this opportunity to network with peers, exchange ideas, and discover the latest advancements in fraud prevention. Register now for the Virtual Fraud Symposium: 2024 and be part of the solution to one of today's most critical challenges!

I'm a licensed CPA and CFE. I was drawn to accounting due to the diverse nature of the field and the many ways accountants can serve their clients. I chose to pursue my degree with an emphasis in forensic accounting so that I could serve clients in the midst of their litigation.

My current role at IAG Forensics & Valuation focuses on family law litigation. Many of my clients are going through a divorce and need a forensic accountant to determine the value of their marital estate, calculate separate and marital property, perform business valuations, assist their attorneys with discovery requests, assist with mediation and settlement proposals, and testify in court.

Other clients are involved in trust and estate matters where the executor or trustee violated his or her fiduciary duties and did not act in the best interest of the beneficiaries. Our firm determines the value of the trust or estate and follows the paper trail to determine the sources and uses of the funds. We prepare reports and schedules to help the court make a determination as to whether or not the fiduciary violated his or her duties.

I enjoy meeting my clients right where they are in the midst of some of the toughest chapters of their lives and help them find resolution.

His record of winning whistleblower cases dates back to 1984, and he was peer-review rated by the National Law Journal as one of the 50-top plaintiff’s lawyers in the United States, the only whistleblower rights lawyer to achieve this distinction. His successful advocacy has resulted in landmark precedents in whistleblower and qui tam law.

Kohn helped draft key whistleblower legislation and regulatory rules, including those incorporated into the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Dodd-Frank Act, the IRS Qui Tam whistleblower amendments, and Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act.

There were a lot of interesting topics this year. Virtual currency and AI are becoming more prevalent in fraud schemes, and I felt these topics were well covered. But I also appreciated that they were not the sole focus also. I feel I learned something from each session.

I enjoyed this course and learned many new concepts that I was not aware of before taking this training. The speakers were knowledgeable and engaging. I handle a lot of fraud cases, so this continuing education will be very valuable to me in my work. Thanks for a great effort on this course.

This was another great instance of the Virtual Fraud Symposium. I really enjoy the experts who are tapped from different fields and sectors to really combine current and emerging trends in fraud with the psychology behind the actors and practical approaches to prevention and detection. If the event is held again next year, I plan to attend then, too.
