CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT(SHRM) PROFESSIONALS

SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management, creates better workplaces where employers and employees thrive together. As the voice of all things works, workers, and the workplace, SHRM is the foremost expert, convener, and thought leader on issues impacting today’s evolving workplaces. SHRM certification credential-holders maintain their credential by engaging in professional development activities that relate to the behavioral competencies and HR knowledge areas identified in the SHRM BoCK.

MY-CPE LLC offers Professional Development Courses (PDC) for Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) (Approval No. – RP5359). We are focused on providing quality continuing education to SHRM professionals that incorporates the qualified subject areas. Our PDC courses are authored/reviewed by industry specialists and subject matter experts.  All our courses are designed in a way to ensure that courses meet your continuing education requirements.

As an SHRM credential-holder, you have two options for recertification:

  1. Earn 60 professional development credits (PDCs) within your 3-year recertification cycle.
  2. Retake the certification exam within the last year of your recertification cycle.
If you choose this option, you must:

  1. Take the exam no earlier than 12 months prior to the end of your recertification cycle.
  2. Retest at your current level.
  3. Complete the exam application process.
  4. Pay the full examination fee.
If you do not pass the exam, your credential will be revoked, and you will need to reapply and test as a new candidate. Additionally, you will not be able to pursue recertification through PDCs if you do not pass the recertification exam.

Many of our programs in Live and Self-Study are approved for continuing education for SHRM professionals. You can visit the myCPE website for more webinars related to SHRM professionals. Here is myCPE Package for SHRM professionals that meets all of your annual continuing education requirements in one go.

There is no mandatory Ethics Requirement for SHRM professionals for recertification.

The recertification cycle will end on the last day of your birth month. Depending on when you earn your certification, your initial certification cycle could be longer than three years.

myCPE Package for SHRM professionals meets the below-mentioned PDC hours requirements of SHRM professionals.

There are no minimum PDC requirements in any particular subject area.

The recertification fee is $ 100. Fees will be $ 150 if applied lately.

CLICK HERE (Page 12) for more detailed information on renewal fees for more than 2 certifications.

SHRM professionals can complete 100% of the total required PDC hours via self-study courses. i.e., SHRM professionals can complete all Recertification credit hours via self-study courses from SHRM-approved providers as my CPE is approved by SHRM.

If SHRM Professionals recertify with more than 60 credits, you are able to carry over up to 20 credits to their new cycle. Carryover credits will be auto-uploaded to the Advance Your Education category in your file once recertification is earned.

If SHRM Professionals fail to comply with their PDC requirements, then they will have 60 days to do so before your credential expires. The 60-day grace period may be used to accumulate additional PDCs. A $50 non-refundable late fee will be applied, in addition to the recertification submission fee, at the time of your submission. Failure to complete recertification requirements by the end of the 60-day grace period will result in the revocation of your credential.

The initial recertification cycle begins the day you pass the exam and ends 3 years later, on the last day of your birth month. For an example,

  • The candidate’s birth month is July
  • The candidate takes and passes the exam on May 3, 2019
  • The initial recertification cycle start date is May 3, 2019
  • The cycle end date is July 31, 2022
  • The cycle expiration date is September 30, 2022

If you have earned 60 or more PDCs, you may submit your completed recertification record one year into your 3-year recertification cycle. If you recertify early, your end date will not change.

  • If you participate in SHRM-sponsored activities or events, the applicable PDCs will be auto-uploaded to your certification portal. Auto-uploaded activities will appear as bold italicized items in the Advance Your Education and Advance Your Profession categories.
  • If you participate in activities or events that are not sponsored by SHRM (for example, those from third-party providers or SHRM affiliates, such as Chapters/State Councils and Education Partners), you will need to enter each activity into your account.

SHRM certification credential-holders who do not complete recertification by the late submission date, comply with the verification process, or complete the required PDCs within an approved hardship extension period will forfeit the right to hold the credential and will no longer be certified. To become certified again, you will be required to begin the process as a new candidate.

Please visit Page 14 of this link for more details.

SHRM certification credential-holders who fully retire from the profession may apply for retired status. A retired-status credential-holder will not be required to recertify.
