Key Responsibilities:

As Tax Specialist:

• Prepare personal and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations. 

As Bookkeeper:

• Post and reconcile bank and credit card transactions.
• Set up loans and reconcile on a periodic basis with loan statements.
• Post invoices, invoice payments, bills, and bill payments.
• Process payroll, post to GL, and reconcile with payroll reports.
• Manage/adjust inventory.
• Track income and expenses by class, job, and location.
• Adjust books to accrual basis.
• Month-end close and financial statement preparation.

In both roles:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accountants and advisors, to provide comprehensive financial services to clients.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrating exceptional communication and client service skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or foreign equivalent
• 1+ years of experience in tax preparation (both personal and business returns).
• 1+ years of experience in bookkeeping.
• Preference given to experience with Drake tax prep software.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks - online version. ProAdvisor certified in QuickBooks Online. (SBS Accounting is willing to hire candidates without these certifications, but will require that they be obtained within 60 days of hire.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.  Adept at using technology and switching quickly between applications.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
