Course Description

Ethical issues for tax practitioners typically arise from a conflict among the duties owed to the client, the system, and yourself. When conflicts arise, it is important to understand what standards will be used to judge your conduct. This online CE webinar program will review Circular 230, and selected tax penalties, and discuss specific situations, both in the context of tax planning and return preparation. Currently, the IRS only requires practitioners who represent taxpayers before the IRS to follow Circular 230 due to the Loving case. Even though tax representation creates a jurisdiction hook, tax representatives can still run afoul of tax preparation issues under Circular 230. The webinar session covers the basics of IRS Office Professional Responsibility, how it functions, and interacts with tax practitioners. We will also cover, jurisdictional issues of who is subject to Circular 230 and the sanction power of OPR. We will also cover what to do in a situation where OPR reaches out to you as a practitioner for possible violations of Circular 230.

Ethical dilemmas are found at every turn in tax practice. This Online CE Webinar will dive into the rules and regulations surrounding tax practice, and how to deal with tricky ethical situations. We will discuss Circular 230 and other regulations relating to tax practice, and discuss the PTIN rules.

This free online Ethics webinar will help tax professionals understand the rules relating to tax practice and preparation. We will cover Circular 230, the rules relating to PTINs and who needs them and discuss sticky ethical situations and how to handle them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ethics application using real life case studies! It helps put things into perspective as to how easily people can slip into unethical behavior. A great webinar, impressive speaker, interesting subject, and engaging delivery method. myCPE 1 Credit = 1 meal initiative helps us in becoming ethically and morally responsible.

Instructor and program content were excellent. Had difficulty with audio (no sound) until I connected via telephone. Help instructions for setting up and using computer audio are confusing (at least they were to me). Listening by telephone was OK, but listening through the computer speakers would have been much better. Thank you!

This was by far the best EA ethics class in my almost 30 years as an EA It was too much info for the two hours. It could have been broken into the segments of Circular 230 with tax court cases supporting some of the rules.

Great job! Good mix of here's what the rules and regulations say black and white, here's some practical interpretation of it, and some occasional experience mixed in.
