Course Description

In the dynamic and fast-paced competitive business environment, there are numerous challenges that a professional may have to face. Many of these challenges are moral and ethical. With comprehensive updates on the ethical standards, principles, rules-regulations, and their applicability, such challenges are easier to deal with.

There are various ethical challenges faced by CPAs in a modern-day competitive business environment. Dealing with such challenges demands a thorough understanding and practical application of ethical standards and rules. This fundamental webinar introduces the ethical standards for the CPAs. Irrespective of whether the CPA is employed in public accounting, governmental accounting, or private accounting practice, these standards provide a guide as to what the CPA as an ethical professional should do. The ethical principles discussed are based on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Code of Professional Conduct, which are the basic standards for all CPAs. The webinar takes a practical approach and provides applications of the relevant professional standards through a discussion in a professional context.

This online CPE webinar on Ethics covers the following Major Topics:

  • Developing robust concepts of ethics as a moral philosophy
  • Compliance with Ethics and compliance with the law
  • Role of integrity in managing conflict of interest
  • Integration of Personal ethics with Professional Ethics
  • Issues, developments, and problems addressed by recent AICPA and SEC Ethics pronouncements and updates.

This online CPE webinar on ethics is designed to provide an insight into the rationale as well as the philosophy behind the rules. It uses practical real-world examples to recognize key ethical requirements for you. This will be a unique value webinar for all CPAs and other accounting professionals.

the slide "are contingent fees morally wrong?" was a great kickoff. the liberty tax case had me ROTFL. "...that's between them, God and the IRS if they're telling the truth." One of my best friends was in-house counsel at liberty tax through its most recent scandal and i was texting with her over this, sending her the slides and reliving the latest happenings, so that was an unintended benefit of ethics class -- getting in touch with old friends! the prominence of the "Everything is Ethical" and corresponding graphic on the 'Absence of Boundaries' slide feels like the state of the world right now. pretty dark. i applaud your brilliance in appealing to my personal ethics to complete the follow-up survey to the webinar: presumably you wanted thoughtful, meaningful feedback and not a simple five-star rating with a blank box? either way, i hope this review finds you well. thanks for the free ethics CPE!

Gave real world scenarios, showing the complexity and "greys" that can come into play when presented with decisions that involve ethics. Also didn't make everything ethical. Was very clear about drawing a line between what is a violation of ethical standards vs maybe a moral standard - and when the "risk zone" is hit that should be avoided.

Great to see actual ethics taught in an accounting ethics course. So much better than those glib explanations of how to not break or the law, or even worse, explanations on how not to get caught. thanks for putting together a solid program, MyCPE!

The video and the questions for the final quiz were not for the same thing. I watched a video about the idea of how to decide ethics and was quized on the details of the AICPA code of conduct which was only mentioned in general terms in the video.
