AICPA General Ethics for CPA 4 Credits
Learning mode
There are various ethical challenges faced by CPAs in a modern-day competitive business environment. To deal with such challenges demand a thorough understanding and practical application of the ethical standards and rules.
This
fundamental online webinar on regulatory ethics
introduces the ethical standards for the CPAs. Irrespective of the CPA is
employed in public accounting, governmental accounting, or private accounting
practice, these standards provide a guide as to what the CPAs as ethical
professionals should do. The ethical principles discussed are based on the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Code of Professional
Conduct, which are the basic standards for all CPAs. The webinar takes a
practical approach and provides applications of the relevant professional
standards through a discussion in a professional context.Â
This Free Ethics CPE webinar also covers an explanation of the issues, developments, and problems addressed by recent AICPA and SEC Ethic pronouncements and updates. This will be a unique value webinar for all CPAs and other accounting professionals. Using case studies and discussion, this course will provide an overview of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, including the conceptual framework approach. Participants will explore the common licensing and CPE issues across state lines. Participants will also gain insights into the application of the standards and rules through discussion and practical examples of ethical situations encountered in their everyday practice.

the slide "are contingent fees morally wrong?" was a great kickoff. the liberty tax case had me ROTFL. "...that's between them, God and the IRS if they're telling the truth." One of my best friends was in-house counsel at liberty tax through its most recent scandal and i was texting with her over this, sending her the slides and reliving the latest happenings, so that was an unintended benefit of ethics class -- getting in touch with old friends! the prominence of the "Everything is Ethical" and corresponding graphic on the 'Absence of Boundaries' slide feels like the state of the world right now. pretty dark. i applaud your brilliance in appealing to my personal ethics to complete the follow-up survey to the webinar: presumably you wanted thoughtful, meaningful feedback and not a simple five-star rating with a blank box? either way, i hope this review finds you well. thanks for the free ethics CPE!

Gave real world scenarios, showing the complexity and "greys" that can come into play when presented with decisions that involve ethics. Also didn't make everything ethical. Was very clear about drawing a line between what is a violation of ethical standards vs maybe a moral standard - and when the "risk zone" is hit that should be avoided.
