Do we have any minimum CPE requirements in particular Subject Area?
Eight (8) credit hours in accounting and/or auditing and eight (8) credit hours in taxation and four (4) credit hours in Delaware specific ethics course approved by the board.
What are CPE Requirements for Newly Certified Delaware (DE) CPA after Initial Certification?
- If the initial permit was issued less than one year prior to the renewal date, there shall be no continuing professional education requirement.
- If the initial permit was issued at least one year, but less than two years prior to the renewal date, the continuing professional education requirement shall be 40 hours for that period.
- The 40 hours of continuing professional education shall consist at a minimum of eight (8) credit hours in accounting and/or auditing and eight (8) credit hours in taxation and four (4) credit hours in a Delaware specific ethics course approved by the Board.
What are the qualifying learning activities for CPE?
- Instructor or Discussion Leader (maximum 50% of total requirement)
- Publishing books and articles (maximum 20 hours)

courses completed via nano learning to count towards the DE CPE requirements.
Can Delaware CPAs carry over excess credit earned in a particular renewal cycle?
A registrant must report, at a minimum, the CPE hours required for the registration renewal period. Hours that exceed the number required for the current registration renewal period may not be carried forward to a subsequent registration renewal period.
What if Delaware (DE) CPA did not complete the 80 hours of CPE by June 30th?
- It is illegal to practice in Delaware while your CPA or PA permit is expired.
- You may file a late renewal application up to one year after the expiration date in DELPROS.
- You must pay a late fee in addition to the renewal fee.
- The late license renewal fees for Delaware (DE) CPA is 50% of license renewal fees i.e. $82.5.
- The license renewal fees for Delaware (DE) CPA firm is 50% of license renewal fees i.e. $101.
- If you fail to renew within one year, the license will terminate. To resume practicing in Delaware, you must apply in DELPROS as a new applicant.
