VIRGIN ISLANDS (VI) CPA CPE REQUIREMENT OVERVIEW

CPE Requirements
120 hours during the three-year period preceding renewal, with a minimum of 40 hours per year.
License Renewal Period
Renew your license by 30th June annually.
CPE Reporting Cycle
January 1 to December 31 Triennial Rolling (three calendar years preceding the license expiration on 6/30).
Ethics Requirement
Four (4) hours within the 120-hour requirement each three (3) calendar years preceding renewal.
Carry Over Credits
Virgin Islands CPA cannot carry forward credits in the next reporting cycle 
Subject Area Restrictions.None. Subjects such as spirituality, personal health and/or fitness, sports and recreations, foreign language, and production which will not contribute directly shall not be allowed

The holder of an active CPA certificate must comply with the 120-hour CPE requirement. What is the Ethics requirement for Virgin Islands Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Professional?

Virgin Islands Board of Public Accountancy has a mandatory requirement that a Virgin Island (VI) CPA has to attend four hours of CPE in ethics during the three years preceding renewal.   • Applicants for renewal of certificates pursuant to the Act shall file with their applications a signed statement indicating they have met the requirements for participation in a program of continuous learning as contained in the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs jointly approved by the NASBA and the AICPA. 
  • Responsibility for documenting the acceptability of the program and the validity of the credits rests with the applicant who should retain such documentation for a period of five (5) years following completion of each learning activity.
