Details

REPORTING PERIOD :

CPAs - CPAs are required to report their CPE credits annually. However, each state has prescribed a different reporting cycle.
CPA/CITPs, CPA/CFFs & CFEs - Recertification is required annually for all certification.

CE REQUIREMENTS :

CPAs - There are generally 40 CPE Requirements. However, each state determines its own CPE requirements for its Certified Public Accountant license.
CPA/CITPs, CPA/CFFs & CFEs - All of these professionals are required to complete 20 hours of CPD/CPE within their credential body of knowledge annually.

ETHICS REQUIREMENTS :

CPAs - Generally, the state requires CPAs to comply with the 4 hours Ethics requirement which may be through regulatory ethics or board-approved state-specific ethics courses.
CPA/CITPs - None
CPA/CFFs - None
CFEs - 2 hours continuing education which must relates to ethics

CARRY OVER CREDITS :

CPAs - Generally CPAs cannot carry forward excess credits to the next reporting cycle. However, each state determines its own carry-forward requirements.
CPA/CITPs - CPA/CITP Credential Holders cannot carry forward excess credits to the next reporting cycle.
CPA/CFFs - CPA/CFF Credential Holders cannot carry forward excess credits to the next reporting cycle.
CFEs - If you have earned more than 20 hours of CPE in your previous reporting period, you may roll over up to 10 of these hours to meet your current CPE requirements. CPE earned before earning your CFE credential is not eligible for rollover. This includes any CPE earned from the CFE Exam Prep Course or the live CFE Exam Review Course.
