Course Description

Much has been written about Emotional Intelligence: EQ – the Q stands for Quotient – a measurement.  The Q term is taken from IQ tests – Intelligence Quotient.  Different tests have been devised to measure it and of course, different people define it differently.  

Emotional intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that establish how well we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges and engage in life in an effective and meaningful way. Unfortunately, the education system does not lay sufficient emphasis on the development of EQ and hence it is observed that some of the most brilliant and successful professions also struggle to be socially accepted.

This course will explore several aspects of EI or EQ as it is called and will offer enough descriptions to enable the listener to self-identify and decide which of the elements needs self-improvement.  It will also be a useful tool for management in its quest to be as useful as possible to the people who report to them.
