Mental health disorders are among the most burdensome health concerns in the world. In the United States, nearly 1 in 5 US adults aged 18 or older (18.3% or 44.7 million people) reported any mental illness in 2016.2 In addition, 71% of adults reported at least one symptom of stress, such as a headache or feeling overwhelmed or anxious.
This CPE personal development course introduces people to mental illness in the workplace. It covers this challenging topic from the perspective of the clients and customers as well as staff and colleagues. You will experience a unique look at mental illness from the inside out.
There are many risk factors for mental health that may be present in the working environment. Most risks relate to interactions between type of work, the organizational and managerial environment, the skills and competencies of employees, and the support available for employees to carry out their work. For example, a person may have the skills to complete tasks, but they may have too few resources to do what is required, or there may be unsupportive managerial or organizational practices.
This CPD course goes beyond simply providing awareness. Attendees can expect to leave with strategies and skills they can begin implementing immediately to make for more supportive workplaces and more profitable and accessible businesses.
