Data analytics is a broad term that encompasses many diverse types of data analysis. Any type of information can be subjected to data analytics techniques to get insight that can be used to improve things. Data analytics techniques can reveal trends and metrics that would otherwise be lost in the mass of information. This information can then be used to optimize processes to increase the overall efficiency of a business or system.
Data analytics for audit is the science and art of discovering and analyzing patterns, deviations, and inconsistencies and extracting other useful information in the data underlying or related to the subject matter of an audit through analysis, modeling, and visualization for planning and performing the audit.
Speaker Robert Minniti will review the various types of data analytics that are available to auditors. He will discuss the issues of validity and bias when performing data analytics. He will discuss using data analytics in all stages of the audit. Examples of data visualization tools will be provided for participants.

Mr. Minniti is a good instructor who explains well, uses examples well, and uses experiences from his past... which is interesting to me as I started in auditing 30 years ago and had to use the green ledger sheets also.
