Course Overview

Management accounting practices have become increasingly progressive since the 1980s. Many organizations are far from where they want and need to be in improving performance, and they apply intuition, rather than hard data when making decisions. Collecting, validating, and reporting data is not the same thing as analyzing information where we can glean valuable, actionable insights. In this Online CPE Webinar Internationally recognized expert, speaker, and author Gary Cokins will take you from applying corporate performance management to applying business intelligence and analytics to financial information.

Corporate performance management (CPM) is now viewed as the seamless integration of managerial methods such as strategy execution with a strategy map. Once implemented it links the strategies of an organization to their plans and execution, therefore helping organizations succeed. In this webinar, we will explore different types of performance management tools how they work, and how they can provide the best results for decision-making when embedded with business analytics.

Critics have claimed that traditional managerial accounting is at best useless and at worst dysfunctional and misleading. Most line managers do not trust their management accounting data. Enter 21st Century management accounting developed cost/unit metrics. The webinar will explore how to gain its value for budgeting, cost analysis, and control.

This online CPE webinar will also explore driver-based budgeting for scenario planning and analysis of a growing organization. It will also delve deep into how driver-based budgeting can help roll financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and more.

To lead to better decisions, data needs to be analyzed and converted into intelligence. Though understanding this is very easy, we all know that despite drowning in data, a business starves for actionable information. The webinar also explores how you can generate the data and make it available in such a way that it smoothens the production of its conversion into business analytics and business intelligence for all the departments.

Any professional who knows the application of these skills will remain in demand because of its universal requirement and better results. This Online CPE webinar will bring you up to speed on the concepts, nomenclature, applications, and tools associated with data analytics and business intelligence.

This online CPE webinar on Finance will cover the following key topics:

  • Companion balanced scorecard (KPIs)
  • Enterprise risk management (ERM)
  • Driver-based budgets, rolling financial forecasts, and continuous refreshing of rolling financial forecasts
  • Product, service-line, channel, and customer profitability analysis (using activity-based costing [ABC] principles)
  • Linking strategy and risk to the budget
  • How can you leverage big data and a continuum of analytics for better decision-making?

This is probably one of the best seminars that I've attended - maybe ever!! Mr. Cokins is very knowledgeable and brings a wisdom to his teaching that enhances the depth of his knowledge. I thought that this was a wonderful presentation of why managerial accounting (as it needs to evolve) remains powerful and relevant.

Joseph Quinn, CPA/ABV

The instructor did a great job presenting his program. He clearly was extremely knowledgeable and experienced in his field. Also, he brought a great deal of engergy to his presentation. Since it was finance it qualifies for my cpa/abv credits but not that relevant to my field of small business valuation work.
