Course Overview

Preventing fraud is always challenging, as the fraudsters always seem to be one step ahead. With the COVID-19 disruptions, the organizations are required to come up with their ‘A’ game. Though companies institute elaborate controls to prevent or detect fraud, the sea of change in the wake of the pandemic is really difficult to deal with. Fraud risk thrives in periods of rapid change. The larger the change, the larger the risk. For all that companies do, the risk of fraud, and its potentially large impact, never go away.

Experts have seen the motivations of rationalization shift dramatically because of the pandemic environment.  Every person alive rationalizes their own behavior. Potential fraudsters rationalize why committing fraud is right for them. These new ‘incentives’ must be dealt with a significant risk of failure with strengthened systems and higher penalties.
