As today’s financial ecosystem shifts, crowdfunding has revolutionized how small businesses and startups secure capital beyond the conventional bank route.
This nano-learning course will unpack four primary crowdfunding types—equity, debt, donation, and reward—and examine the distinct accounting nuances of each. From navigating equity accounting for investor-backed projects to handling deferred revenue for donation-driven efforts, understanding these frameworks is essential. With case studies from platforms like Kickstarter, StartEngine, and Kiva, we’ll spotlight how different models influence financial reporting and compliance. Join us to explore how these varied models intersect with accounting principles and compliance.
