Course Description

Course Description

TrickGate is a shellcode-based packer that is available as a service to conceal malware from EDRs and antivirus software. It was first identified in July 2016. Despite the recent attack, the packers have existed for a long time.

TrickGate's ability to transform and go through alterations on occasion has allowed it to operate unnoticed for years. The infection chain involves sending phishing emails with malicious attachments or booby-trapped links that lead to the download of a shellcode loader that's responsible for decrypting and launching the actual payload into memory.

This CPE Nano learning course by David Utzke will cover the characteristics of shellcode packers and analyze how it works. It will also explain what packers and shellcode packers are.

At this time, Nano-learning is not accepted by all state boards. If you are not sure whether your state board accepts Nano-learning, you can ask your state board or visit the NASBA registry.

Learning Objectives

  • To identify packers and shell code-based packers and examine how they operate.
